Internet connection in the countryside is scarce. Local telephone providers around our home in the province do not even reach the far flung areas where its at and people have to drive around 5 minutes to the highway just to get to a pay phone. There are so many options to get on line but I never wanted those 3G connections that depend on cell phone signals. They often are not the best things to have and stay connected. It cuts on and off and the upload and download speed is just at a snails pace. I need fast and reliable Internet since I often need to be on line and be there when work needs me. I want to make sure that there would be a good satellite provider in our area so I would not have to suffer in the long run. I will also be teaching you in this post how to hook up a ROUTER with it since that is where I am an expert of.

Satellite Internet connection feed off ground stations and reflects the signals on orbital giant machines promptly named satellites too. Digital information converted into waves the other way around make up how it travels through air. Since it is being reflected cosmically land masses like mountains or forests which comprise much of the landscape we have in our provincial house would not be much of a problem. The download and upload speed is phenomenal and performs way better than those dependent on cell phone signals. When the Internet service provider assigns a public IP address to your modem it sometimes need authentication from either the physical address of the modem itself or the primary computer connected to it. The physical address more commonly known as the MAC Address is a uniquely assigned combination of numbers and letters for a computer device/peripheral. That particular address can be cloned on the ROUTER which can act like a smart switch and access point. ROUTERS also have combined firewall and DHCP servers on it. It would definitely be easy to just have a computer connected to one of its ports or connect to the wireless network. The wireless connection can also be encrypted with WEP, WPA or WPA2 wireless security. There is also optional MAC Address filtering so only the indicated wireless MAC addresses would be able to get Internet connection.

It would be awesome to even imagine that I actually have the only wireless access point in that area. My neighbors would probably be jealous of me. I don't need to suffer crawling dial up Internet connection if I am in the outskirts of Manila. A simple blue dish on top of my roof would be the perfect solution!

It's good news! I just got this from the mail. It was one gadget that I truly wanted to have and now it is in my hands!

It looks promising though but I haven't really tried the software yet. The navigation is pretty simple and probably built for dummies. It has a power button on the right side, a big red button on the center and 4 buttons on its side signifying Play/Pause, left, right, and delete. The Flip Mino has its charging capability dependent on the USB which upon a click on its retracting mechanical switch will pop up. I like the ease of use because it basically functions as a camera saving its movies into a USB stick which you can use later on with the software that uploads all of the clips and makes them into movies too. Since I got the one that doesn't have HD capability it makes a decent video. I wouldn't want to complain because this was just given to me and by golly I love it! I can't wait to experiment with it tonight in low light clubs!

Safety in the work place has been one of the greatest things our office administration has been working on since we got ISO certified. This is so important for Information Technology based companies such as ours to qualify for because we have the most energy consuming devices plugged in on our circuits. I'm glad there are established on line stores such as Legion Safety who specialize in this particular subject and arc flash clothes and suits. They all have these on their site:

It would really be beneficial for every corporation to delegate people who would take charge in matters of safety in the office. I plan to also put up teams that would be able to respond in emergencies and disasters if the worse happens. Good things happen to good people but we always have to be ready at all times. Fire prevention and safety is a must!

I hope I can do something about the email feature on my blackberry, it is apparently not working because globe is not doing anything with the registration of the device. After entering the IMEI code and blackberry pin on their site it shows an error that even the people at globe could not explain. I hate it... I hate them a lot. If there was some way I could throw my blackberry curve at them I would do that. Some of their technicians called me but never resolved anything. If there was anything worse they closed cases when they call and never got to me. Isn't that neat?!

Globe, if ever you are reading my entries... I am so disappointed with your way of dealing with clients. I would never do business with you anymore if you do not get this to work. This should all be simple but you choose to have one of the worst service people in the industry. Please give me a break and don't call me anymore if you have nothing good to say. It's a holiday already too so I know everything's going to be delayed since this is the third time I have contacted you.

I am a not so happy guy throwing away my globe number that I used since college. That was years ago... but if I need to I will. I hope you guys get some sleep at night.

I have seen the US economy stand in the midst of the economic crisis which has affected the world. It did the worst to the best names in the IT industry since 2008 and to note; it has amassed 62,000 people to lose their jobs in the US alone. 8,000 of these were from giant wireless provider company Sprint, 6,000 from electronics company Philips, 3,400 from chip maker Texas Instruments and thousands more from other multinational companies that established corporations in the United States of America. I know there would be more but that would be already out of the information technology industry. I have witnessed how the President has worked to ask lawmakers to approve and support the 825 billion dollar stimulus package. They are all in dire need of help where to get the funds for the real estate bailout and emergency benefits for workers. Even I know how hard it is to survive for families and people who live from paycheck to paycheck. There are a lot of urban hunger and malnutrition incidents after these layoffs and it was high time that the people who built the nation be rewarded with the right tax credits due them.

If I was starting off from college, graduated and got a job; I would expect my skills and contribution to the US workforce be recognized by at least helping me treat my family and children to decent shelter. I know if I were in their shoes I would not be able to afford paying for it nor am I going to consider skipping those loans I had for education since I do not want to risk that to balloon in the coming years. It would be doubly hard to pay that off on an expected high interest rate. The good news is that there is available tax credit for people who would be able to file written and binding contracts until April 30. That would mean huge amount of up to 8,000 dollars for first time home buyers and up to 6,500 dollars for people who have lived consecutively in their homes in the last 5 to 8 years. Everything would end in June 30th this year and there are no signs of extensions. If I were you I would probably be first in line to get that for my folks. Since I am single I would be able to have income limits to 125,000 dollars unlike my married peers who would have it for 225,000 dollars instead. That is not the end of it because they will also have 20,000 dollars phase out of the credit for all of us. This is a huge chop off the original price and I would like to personally recommend IT workers to avail of this before it ends. It would benefit them (the IT workers), their families and the real estate industry. Please don't let this opportunity slip away!

My sister needs a netbook because the one my brother just brought from Ireland seemed to have only worked for a few days. It went kaput on her and decided never to turn on again. Since I have a wireless access point at home I recommended her to get a laptop or a netbook but knowing how cheap my sister is she's probably going to get the latter instead. Now I'm trying to figure out what particular netbook would be perfect for her lifestyle.

ASUS EEEPC 1005P

I suggested she gets this one because of its reasonable price and because almost everyone has it in this side of the world. The EeePC is lightweight, very power efficient and no nonsense in a way. Some of my friends have it and they recommend this one over the others but just like any other netbook the drawback of this would be storage. I don't know who invented these things but man have some decent storage on it for crying out loud (wait I think it has 250GB yey!)! For the 22,000 Philippine peso price it does not seem justifiable that it doesn't have an included operating system with it. Some stores carry it with an OS (probably Windows 7) but you have to dish out around 2 thousand Philippine pesos just to get it working. I am not that much of a fan of Linux so don't force me to install freeware on it too. That would just be a pain to do obviously. Do you guys have other things to recommend I buy instead of this?! Please let me know! I'll try to review the other laptops as soon as I get the specs analyzed. Keep reading for more soon!

Passed or Not?! : A huge MAYBE!

I am going to feature my van today the MITSUBISHI Space Gear DELICA. It has been with the family for around 3 years and it has performed very well. I liked this initially because of certain technical features. Though it lacked on storage space despite its big leg room boasted on every space gear, it has been quite dependable. I need an additional hauler rack so I could fit in my luggage when I go out of town. I'll take a look on some options at on line stores like REALTRUCK.COM soon. I seldom go to our house in the south because it is a little rough. It's 4x4 engine really comes in handy to go through forest floors which are also a common sight in those provinces. The rack I am planning to buy should fit a few things I need for off road fun. This one from THULE would be perfect!

After fitting that I'm sure everything would be good. The one we have is a little bigger than the ones that came out of the 1994 batch which is part of the MITSUBISHI fourth generation line. Pretty old but this is an L400 which is like leaps and bounds of an improvement over its predecessor the L300 van. There were major differences and one thing I opted for when we bought this is the legroom. I am from a big family literally and the last thing I want when riding and driving is a small cramped space. The current wheel base is 2,800 – 3,000 mm and the executive edition is a little longer than that. It's got 2 batteries because of the automatic engine and power stuff that it needs to energize. When they initially converted ours from right hand drive to the left, they also took out the other battery and we had some minor problems with the electrical components after that. I got them rewired a few years ago and that improved the supply a lot. The 4M40 2.8 L TD I4 diesel engine works great on extreme conditions. It has gone way beyond expectations since we were able to take this on a spin in the mountains. I want to have this tested on real 4x4 tracks but it is a little too long for some of the terrain and might end up on a ditch if I forced it. I believe the trunk space could have been bigger but thanks to THULE we could fit it some on the top. I also can take a peek through the sun roof when we have some things to take into the van if needed. Now I think it would be a necessity in the future. There are cosmetic improvements on it like the light panels. The ugly fog lights that were there were removed. I love the fact they inserted an electronic control type/distribution type for the jet pump. Now it burns fuel efficiently than the older ones that I see every so often. I am glad we bought this one and not the other all terrain vehicles because it is more comfortable. With the things I learned to like on this van, I am sure you guys would consider buying one that fits you and your family in it. It's one of the greatest family vans I have ever seen and I would really recommend you to get one now including the rack.
